Shimmer was another inspiration taken from the French. Did you know that Revlon was the first to make nail polish shine? French makeup artist Michelle Menard inspired the creation of Revlon's modern nail polish, which was modeled after the glossy shine of automobile paint. She wanted to know why nail polish couldn't sparkle the same way. Menard perfected her formula in the 1920s and later helped launch the cosmetic house, known today as Revlon.
