Six Years of Scents Inspired By Human's Greatest Companions

Darlings,

I launched Whiskey & Woof on August 30th, 2019—six months before the pandemic reshaped everything. I had a business plan and a clear sense of the brand, but sticking to that plan became its own challenge once demand spiked. In the beginning I experimented with wax colors and formats; today, those variations live only in custom orders.

When the world went into lockdown, requests multiplied. At one point I was pouring candles in seven sizes, working 24-hour days, while pivoting to source materials that were now deeply competitive to obtain as well as harder to source.  Meanwhile, the post office turned deliveries into an obstacle course—packages bound for Queens ending up in Oregon, or boxes meant for Brooklyn spending spring break in Florida.

There were lessons in every detour. It reminded me of writing workshops, where we were taught to “kill your darlings.” You cut what doesn’t serve the story, then rebuild with stronger transitions until it all holds together again. Business has worked the same way: you can’t cling to every experiment. Some things need to be let go so the brand itself can thrive.

In 2023, I stepped back for ten months. That pause ended in April 2024, and since then I’ve been refining, editing, and honing what’s true to Whiskey & Woof. I started again with candles, then slowly added reed diffusers and room/body sprays. Through it all, the heart of Whiskey & Woof has never changed: it’s about celebrating moments together and honoring those bonds through layered scents that tell a story—an act one, act two, and act three.

This past summer, I created a colorful trio as a fun capsule collection. But now it’s time to return to the signature look of Whiskey & Woof: matte black vessels with black-and-white labels, refined and understated so the scents remain the stars. This more cohesive direction is also reflected in a few scent name changes: No. 22 Sophisticate, our signature bourbon, is now No. 22 Nightcap. No. 17 Luxuriate is now No. 17 Private Reserve.

And, a favorite from the original year of launch No. 18 Hedonist did so well after a summer clear out event, it's coming back to the fold. This whiskey & leather scent is whiskey leading, whereas No. 72 Wasted Inheritance is leather leading with many different notes including Tonka Bean and plum.

Your honest feedback  and reviews have been vital to the brand making it six years. Thank you for expanding your scent journey with Whiskey & Woof. I’m especially proud that, for the second year, our No. 31 Tipsy Pumpkin is available in a limited edition 12 oz black glass pumpkin, alongside the classic 8 oz size—because delight should never leave your autumn.

With gratitude and wishing you good scents,
Coco Quill
